What is a Dynotile?

What are the benefits of its patent-pending design?
Dynotile features a unique patent-pending design consisting of Overlock Technology and honeycomb support structures. These support structures are strong enough to withstand the heaviest vehicle traffic, yet still provide a softness not found in other tiles. In addition, the engineers incorporated Radius Tunnels as a feature of the honeycomb construction to allow the airflow from the sides of the tiles, thus assisting in the evaporation of unwanted moisture.

What colours do I have to choose from?
Dynotile is available from stock in nine attractive colours:

- Obsidian black - Platinum silver - Slate grey - Artic blue - Matador red

- Corona yellow - Mandarin orange - Ice white - Sahara beige

You can stick with one solid colour or you can mix and match as many colours as you'd like to get the exact custom floor you're looking for. Try your design before you buy - use Dynotile's handy online Floor Builder.

What makes Dynotile better than other solutions such as an Epoxy coating?
Dynotile will not crack if the foundation cracks and it is easy to repair or replace if damaged. The installation process requires no surface preparation and is quick and odourless. Dynotile can also be removed or transferred at any time so if you move, you can take it with you. It won't stick to your tyres either when you've parked your car for a while after driving in the wet!

What are the key benefits?
Dynotile is an easy to install tile, easy to clean and resists water, stains, chemicals, fire, and UV rays. It is also lightweight, yet durable and long-lasting, it requires minimal preparation making it a great temporary or permanent floor solution.

How can I cut Dynotiles - my garage isn't square?
In most cases enclosed floors require the last row or column of Dynotiles being laid to be cut in to the walls. Dynotiles can be easily cut with hand or power saws. Using a fine tooth blade suitable for cutting metal will give the best results.

Can I use a car jack, hoist or bike stand on Dynotile?
In many cases these are fine but because there are so many varieties of jack or hoist, and weights of vehicle, we would always recommend a board is placed underneath to spread the concentrated load evenly over a wider area of floor before attempting to lift. The same applies to bike stands and any other machinery or furniture which transfers large amounts of weight through small areas of contact with the floor.

How level does the floor need to be?
The flatter the floor the better the finished result. Dynotiles are meant to be installed on clean, flat and solid surfaces. Cracks, peeling paint and small imperfections do not usually matter. Make certain to patch or fill larger dips, ridges and holes in the substrate and grind down any significant protrusions that may also interfere with the installation. Rough screeded concrete floors generally benefit from a simple treatment before fitting any floor tile and products such as self-levelling compounds are a popular solution.

Can welding equipment be used above Dynotile floors? Or can other hot items be placed on them?
While the tiles have a wide working temperature range they are plastic so don't use using welding equipment over them. Also always take care when placing very hot items on or near them or when parking very low sports cars with hot exhausts on the floor as occasional deformation of the tiles can occur due to the heat. Usually this is only temporary and tiles will return to normal once they cool.

How do I keep the floor looking good and how do I remove tiles if needed?
Day-to-day maintenance is performed by sweeping with a soft broomand spot cleaning any stains or marks. Solvent-based solutions can be used to clean stubborn areas without harming the flooring. Occasional mopping with a water and degreaser solution such as Dynotile Citrus Cleaner will also help to keep the floor looking its best.If necessary, to aid in separating the floor for removal, slide a broom handle under the floor at a joint, and slide it along the joint to separate the locks.

Do wires fit underneath the tiles?
Dynotile's unique honeycomb underside will permit thin wire such as bell wire to be carefully laid underneath. Thicker wires such as 2 or 3 core fex are normally too big to fit.
